faith community be concerned about
domestic violence? Isaiah 61:1
and Luke 4:18 state that Christ’s
mission was to preach the gospel to
the poor, heal and bind up the broken-hearted,
proclaim liberty to the captives,
recovery of sight to the blind and
set at liberty bruised individuals.

Domestic violence is
the number one public health problem
for women in the United States. According
to the U.S. Surgeon General, domestic
violence is the greatest single cause
of injury among U.S. women, accounting
for more emergency room visits than
traffic accidents, muggings, and rape
combined.
